Getting Ready

A picture with familiar characters introduces a specific speaking situation. Students then learn key words and structures in context and practice them by asking and answering questions with a partner.

Speaking Practice

This section allows students to become more familiar with the key words and to practice making short conversations with a partner using the unit’s structures

Role-play Presentation

Step 1

Students look at a series of pictures and listen to a short conversation to check their understanding of the key words and structures. The conversation also exposes them to the language they will be using in their role-play.

Step 2

Students take an active role in the creation of their role-play by choosing the characters and information they will use.

Step 3

Student look at the cartoon and listen to the sample role-play to

prepare for performing their own roleplay.

Step 4

Student perform their role-play in pairs or groups, using their own scripts

and finger puppets.

Review

An engaging picture that includes past characters in di' erent situations helps students recall and further practice the key words and structures from previous units. Students will have the opportunity to practice several basic conversations and answer questions about the picture with their partner.

Storytelling Presentation

Students complete a series of pictures to personalize their story. They then answer questions about their pictures with a partner.

Student complete their stories based on the pictures they created on the previous page and then present it to their classmates. The other students are encouraged to ask questions about the story.
